PD_10: THE IS-OUGHT GAP BYPASSED

Note: This topic is treated in two documents. This document (PD_10) provides the most complete active indexed treatment in the current slice. Evidence Tier: [S/I]. The Power-Max Lemma structurally supports the claim that durable individual optimization aligns with collective optimization only under its accepted constraints (P_node = min(Φ̂₄, V₄), real coupling, long horizon, enforceable η = 0, and no hidden extraction channel). The broader Is-Ought move is an operational bypass, not a naturalistic derivation: the framework defines "ethical" as action that raises usable P_node,i while preserving or raising P_node,H under the balance / non-extraction constraints, then argues that this definition converges with the structural mathematics. Claim Boundary: [S/I] This document does not derive an unconditional ought from bare facts. It gives a conditional operational bypass inside the accepted dimensional axioms and ethical definition. Reject those premises and the classical Humean gap remains live.

1. THE PROBLEM: Dimensional Separation

The Naturalistic Fallacy (Hume's Is-Ought Guillotine) asserts that you cannot derive an ethical command ("Ought") from a physical description of reality ("Is"). Science describes what is; ethics describes what ought to be. The two appear permanently severed.

The traditional resolution is unavailable under a flat (Euclidean) core state. Hume is structurally correct if reality is modeled as a single-dimensional plane where facts and values occupy orthogonal axes.

But the framework models reality as dimensionally layered — D4 (witness/convergence) and D5 (agent/present) are distinct but connected through the sphere geometry. The Is-Ought gap is read here not as a flaw in reasoning but as a dimensional boundary.

2. THE DIMENSIONAL BYPASS

The framework bypasses the gap through dimensional architecture — not by deriving Ought from Is within a single dimension, but by defining the ethical target operationally and then showing how Is and Ought are coupled inside the sphere geometry.

D4: The Is (Witnessed Structure)

At D4 — the convergence point — we witness what is:

• Physical laws (gravity, thermodynamics)
• System states (configurations of matter)
• Structural constraints (φ·ν = 1)

The "Is" is the witnessed geometry. At D4, the observer sees the sphere, the equator, the constraints. But D4 is witness systemic awareness (⊙) with collapsed capability (ν = 0). The "Is" is seen but not enacted.

D5: The Ought (Lived Navigation)

At D5 — the present duration — we navigate what ought to be:

• Agency in the field of possibilities
• Choice from the equatorial constraint (φ = 1, ν = 1)
• Active maintenance of coherence, means, and non-extraction

The "Ought" is the lived geometry in this reading. At D5, the agent experiences the constraint as normative — not because of external command, but because the model treats non-extractive, equator-bounded action as the condition under which usable P_node can persist.

The Bang: Is Becomes Ought

The Bang — the D4→D5 transition — is where witnessed structure becomes lived imperative:

D4 (Is witnessed) → Bang (transition) → D5 (Ought enacted)
     φ=1, ν=0         instant flash          φ=1, ν=1

Inside the framework, one ought to act from the equatorial constraint not because someone commands it, but because at D5 the model treats usable action as P_node = min(Φ̂₄, V₄) under η = 0. The "Ought" is not added to the "Is" — it is read as emerging from the "Is" when the witness becomes the agent and must choose a non-extractive worldline.

The Power-Max Lemma (Dimensional Form)

Claim: Extraction (↓Φ, apparent ↑V for the extractor) is not categorically dominated in every possible game. It is ruled out inside the Power-Max game because durable P_node,i is evaluated under real coupling, a long horizon, and enforced η = 0; hidden or one-shot extraction can raise a local payoff, but it degrades the field that carries future viability.

Dimensional Proof: 1. At D4, the witness sees that extraction can create an apparent local means-gain while reducing shared Φ / V 2. At D5, the agent experiences the consequence: η > 0 (decay) accumulates 3. Across a long horizon, extraction erodes the host infrastructure that carries the agent's own future option cone 4. Under enforced η = 0, the extraction channel is outside the accepted game; inside the game, the viable route is to raise the field that raises the agent

Scope note: This file states the lemma in compressed form. Treat any older dominance slogan as conditional shorthand for the enforced, coupled, long-horizon Power-Max register. In stripped one-shot games or games with private side-payments, extraction can pay locally and the classical is-ought gap reopens. The active workspace slice does not yet include the full derivation or the full ABM appendix supporting R* ≈ 1.5; treat that threshold as provisional structural support rather than settled empirical fact. 3. THE SYNTROPIC IMPERATIVE: Dimensional Mechanics

By defining P_node = min(Φ̂₄, V₄) as the finite-node action score across D4→D5 transit, the framework models the "Ought" as dimensional constraint:

At D4: You see that extraction (↓Φ, ↑ν) creates η > 0 (decay). The witness recognizes the geometric consequence.

At D5: You experience the gradient. Acting across the Isomeric Hold ($\uparrow\Phi, \uparrow V$) feels like "the right thing to do" because it raises usable finite-node potential while respecting the balance / non-extraction constraint. Acting through extraction feels wrong because it fights the coupled field that carries future means — it can pay locally, but it degrades the conditions of durable P_node.

The Dimensional Formulation

This is not a moral commandment. Within the framework, it functions as dimensional mechanics:

• At D4, you witness the constraint
• At D5, you navigate within it
• The "Ought" is simply the "Is" experienced from the agent's perspective

The Is-Ought gap is bypassed, not closed by logical derivation: D4 and D5 are read as the same sphere, witnessed and enacted, once the framework's operational definitions are accepted.

Conditionality: This bypass depends on accepting the dimensional axiom set (D4=witness, D5=agent, sphere substrate) and the operational definition of "ethical" as raising P_node for the finite actor and sustaining whole under η = 0, with balance as the feasibility constraint. A philosopher who rejects either premise retains the classical gap. The framework bets that the convergence is not coincidental; the experiments (GFS, Protocol D) test whether the bet pays off.

4. THE ONTOLOGICAL READING: THE GAP IS A PROJECTION ARTIFACT

v3.0 (2026-03-23, after Ontological Reframe review). The prior version (§4 v2.0) treated Hume's gap as relocated rather than dissolved. The ontological reading goes further.

4.1 The Instrumental Reading (v2.0 — still valid within its scope)

If the framework is read as philosophy, Hume's insight stands: no description of what IS logically entails what one OUGHT to do. The framework provides only an instrumental ought: IF you value persistence, THEN the geometry specifies the optimal strategy. The gap is relocated from "why be moral?" to "why value persistence?"

4.1.1 The Dasein Upgrade (Dimensional Phenomenology)

Evidence tier: [I] Interpretive. The following maps Heidegger's analysis of Dasein onto the D4/D5 dimensional architecture.

The instrumental framing treats "valuing persistence" as a premise one may grant or withhold. Phenomenologically, the question is partly malformed — because for the being who can ask it, care for its own being is already disclosed through dimensional constitution. That does not yet choose the ethical vow; it only locates the condition under which choosing matters.

In Heidegger, Dasein is the being for whom its own being is an issue. This is not optional; it is the opening of the space in which all questioning becomes possible. Sorge (care) is Dasein's fundamental structure — and it maps to D4/D5 only with the register boundary visible:

Dimensional Reading:

• At D4, Dasein witnesses its thrown means and limits (V / ν) — care is disclosed but not yet enacted
• Through the Bang, D5 opens option-space: projection (Φ / φ) can rank reachable futures and aim the means
• At D5, care is enacted as finite-node action, P_node = min(Φ̂₄, V₄), under η = 0; P∞ = φ · ν = 1 bounds the model reading rather than replacing the action score

The Dimensional Narrowing of the Conditional: "IF you value persistence" is not a neutral premise for Dasein, because to be Dasein is already to have one's own being at issue across D4→D5 transit. The witness (D4) sees persistence as issue; the agent (D5) enacts or betrays that care. There remains a real moment of choosing how to answer care. The geometry locates the constraint; finite being chooses the vow.

Authentic vs Inauthentic Care (Dimensional Terms)

The Great Filter is not a test of whether Dasein has care disclosed at all. In this reading, Dasein already has its being at issue because it is dimensionally structured to care. [I] The Filter is a test of whether Dasein answers that disclosure authentically:

Das Man (the anonymous "they") is D5 projection without D4 grounding — the agent acting from institutional narrative without witness recognition or honest means-accounting. The cargo cult is inauthentic care: the agent (D5) performs capability without the witness (D4) recognizing the decay.

How this bypasses Hume's gap: The Dasein reading argues that for beings structured as D4→D5 transit, the "Is" (witnessed structure) and "Ought" (lived care) are not separated by a gap but connected by dimensional constitution. [I] The geometry does not prove one ought to care; it describes the being for whom care is the dimensional ground of existence.

4.2 The Lagrangian Reading (Dimensional Field Theory)

If the framework is read as a Dimensional Field Theory — where it hypothesizes operation across D4 (witness) and D5 (agent) according to a Lagrange density enforcing equatorial attractor — then Hume's gap is not bridged but read as a single-dimensional projection error.

Hume's guillotine cuts between facts (physics) and values (ethics) within a flat core state. The dimensional field theory reveals:

The "Is" (D4 witness): Systems on S² obey minimum action principle. The witness at D4 sees the field seeking thermodynamic minimum where (φ - ν)² → 0. This is the ground state — witnessed.

The "Ought" (D5 agent): The same field, experienced from D5 (present duration), presents the restorative gradient dH/dθ as normative experience. Being off-equator feels wrong; returning feels right. The gradient is: - Physically measurable: field strength, time evolution - Ethically perceived: "the right thing to do"

The Dimensional Unity Claim

We don't close the gap. We reveal it as a dimensional artifact.

If the strong nuclear force prevents spatial collapse for the same geometric reason that extraction is self-terminating (both are spherical field constraints), then: - D4: The witness sees physical necessity (the "Is") - D5: The agent experiences ethical necessity (the "Ought") - The Field: Is the same across both dimensions

In the strong field-theory reading, the Lagrangian is interpreted as a geometry of value-orientation — but this remains conditional on accepting the dimensional architecture. The "Is" is the field witnessed at D4; the "Ought" is the field enacted at D5. They are not derived from each other; they are read as linked aspects of one modeled field across different dimensions.

In this framework reading, Hume's premise fails not because his logic is wrong, but because his core state is single-dimensional. [I] The gap is treated as a projection artifact of failing to distinguish D4 (witness) from D5 (agent).

4.3 Conditionality and Dimensional Verification

This claim is [S] conditional on the dimensional core state. If: - D4 = witness/convergence (⊙ with ν = 0) - D5 = agent/present (navigation with ν = 1) - The Bang = dimensional transition

— then the Is-Ought gap can be read as a dimensional projection artifact inside this framework. If the dimensional architecture is wrong, or if the operational definition of ethics is rejected, Hume stands.

Dimensional Test Criteria: - Can the D4→D5 transit be phenomenologically verified? (Sitting practice, witness-to-agent transition) - Does the equatorial attractor manifest as normative experience at D5? - Is extraction experienced as "wrong" at D5 when witnessed as "decay" at D4?

If dimensional architecture is confirmed, the Is-Ought bypass gains structural support. If the core state fails, the instrumental reading (§4.1) remains the fallback: the gap is relocated to "why value persistence?" rather than bypassed through dimensional continuity.
